""Pufferfish" is a whimsical geometric image of a pufferfish produced by carving the design into a linoleum block using hand gouges and knives leaving a relief that the artist applies high quality oil based inks onto and then presses the design onto paper. The image is repeatable, but each print is an original handmade piece of art. The paper is a traditional kitakata paper in a green color produced by the Awagami paper company in Japan. This is a limited edition of 100 prints. "The roosterfish is one of the most famous sport fish in the world. They grow large, are very powerful, and are notoriously challenging to catch. This is a fish found in the tropic zone of the Pacific side of the Americas, and the reason many anglers visit the Baja peninsula of Mexico every summer. This handmade print is a multi-block linocut relief print produced in three layers. The background layer of irregular blue shapes represents the sea, and was hand printed from unsanded pine plywood using very transparent ink. The second layer is printed from a block of linoleum cut to the shape of the roosterfish's body using translucent ink to mask the background blue. The last layer, the key block, is the black details of the fish that were hand-carved from another linoleum block with gouges and knives. The artist does not possess a printing press larger enough for this size paper, so all three layers were pressed to the paper by laboriously burnishing the back of the paper onto the inky blocks with a variety of barens and a wooden spoon. Due to the unpredictable nature of working with unsanded wood, every print in the edition will look noticeably different, so the entire edition is 'variable' with each print being unique. This limited edition of 25 original prints is made with high quality oil-based inks on Japanese masa paper. "The Kentucky Warbler is an iconic songbird of the deep forests of the south central United States. This beautiful bird is secretive and hard to spot, until it sings its self-descriptive 'Pretty! Pretty! Pretty!' song. This piece of art is a handmade linocut produced from a single block using the reduction method. A layer of ink is applied to the entire block, and then printed onto a sheet of paper. This step is repeated for all of the pieces in the edition, and then the artists uses gouges and knives to remove the areas of the block that are to be that color in the final print. After 'reducing' the block, the artist repeats the process with the next darkest color. "Kentucky Warbler" as nine colors applied in eight layers total, using high quality oil based inks on archival Rives heavy weight cotton rag paper. This is a limited edition of only eleven original prints.
