Cast-Iron Relief Sculpture, Polished River Stones, and Ceramic Box and Framed Poetry Diptych by Laura Dill (8.5in. x 11in.)
Get the full multimedia experience: https://youtu.be/Gr9Q5OdWLZ4 "Resonance is an interactive multimedia artwork consisting of a cast-iron relief sculpture set in a field of polished black river rock within a ceramic box, an ekphrastic poem, and a video with me reading the poem. The artwork is meant to be read by hand. Cold iron, smooth river rock, and rough ceramic create distinct textures from edge to center. It features both fixed and mutable elements. Some are shaped by the artist’s hand, and others are yours to move. The iron is silent, singular, centered. The small stones surrounding it chatter and clatter as you interact with them, resonating through your fingertips. The poem honors the hand's role in creation, and the title names what the piece asks you to feel: the echoes of a song, carried in your hands. A companion to Uncontainable, Resonance is part of my Resilience Project & Writing Wrongs series of artworks and writings. The iron is burnished and waxed; it is meant to be touched, experienced, and remembered."
