"This is a still life painting of some of the things that were found on my husband's desk after his death last year.
When reflecting on our 250th anniversary of our country I am still moved by the words of the Declaration of Independence and the bravery, wisdom, sacrifice and divine inspiration needed by these men to draft such a document.
As were many of the Founding Fathers, my husband was grounded in his faith and served others in many ways. He was also a student of history and never forgot to be thankful for the rich heritage of our country. His life was an example to many and I am thankful for the legacy he has left his family. We enjoyed the celebration for our countries 200th anniversary together and now 50 years later I remain most grateful for the many freedoms we still enjoy."
