  • Morning at Markland House

    Morning at Markland House

Oil on Panel by Gail Beveridge (11in. x 14in.)
"Whenever I had the opportunity to come into this room in Flagler College's Markland House, I wanted to plop down on that velvety window seat and soak up the morning sun with a good novel. Since that wasn't an option, I decided to paint the memory - the interplay between light and shadow on the rich, dark wood and the plush velvet cushion with the window framing the briliance of the morning outisde."

    Last Light

Oil on Panel by Gail Beveridge (17in. x 14in.)
"As darkness enveloped this bay in Nova Scotia, the last light on the horizon created dramatic silhouettes of the forested islands and docks along the near shore. In this painting, I wanted to convey the beautiful stillness that seems to descend upon the earth as day gives way to night."

    Old Glory & Gingerbread

Oil on Panel by Gail Beveridge (15in. x 12in.)
"This painting started as a plein air study at the Napoleon Bonaparte Broward House in Jacksonville, FL, a beautiful old Victorian house that is now part of the Timucuan Preserve. I was drawn to the sunlit flag in the window as well as the gingerbread trim and the shadow it created on the facade of the house."

    The Stogies Sfumato

Oil on Wood by Jonathan Stemberger (38in. x 26in.)
"Stemberger has created a painting in the style of New Wave Impressionism, a contemporary take on the old French standard. Inspired by the combine paintings of Robert Rauschenberg, the piece contains three perspectives, a Travelodge, Stogies Cigar Bar and the Matanzas River. The painting seeks to capture and conceptualize time and space, allowing the viewer to move about scenes while also experiencing the overall effect of the image as a whole."
