  Racetrack Shadows

  Charcoal by Mary Felton (24in. x 18in.)

" It was late afternoon at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, KY when I took a photo from an upper balcony looking down onto the track level spectators. The shadows of the people and the benches were so striking, I thought it might make for an interesting drawing. I really loved the ladies hats which are always such a fun aspect of people watching at these events. You often see scenes at athletic events that show the crowd in the background, but looking up at them. This felt a little different in that respect which is why I felt it was appropriate for this show called "Perspectives". I hope you like this drawing as much as I liked creating it for you, thanks!
