"Kimono Day captures a treasured moment between a grandmother, Ana, and her granddaughter, Sakura, during a special kimono ceremony in Japan. Ana traveled across the miles to be present for this meaningful day, a reminder that distance can never diminish the bonds of love and family.
As they walk hand in hand, I wanted to capture more than the occasion. Perhaps Ana is offering words of wisdom. Perhaps she is simply taking in the preciousness of being there. Or maybe Sakura is quietly embracing her grandmother's guidance as she prepares for the ceremony.
The warm sunlight falling across their path represents the enduring love they share, a light that remains constant no matter how many miles separate them. Through color, light, and elongated shadows, I sought to capture the beauty of this fleeting moment and the lasting connection between two generations.
To me, this painting is about presence, guidance, and the kind of love that continues to grow across generations and distance."
