Watercolor & Ink on Paper by Elisa Nadzieja
(35in. x 29in.)
"The natural world reveals itself in the artist's work as biomorphic forms that emerge through an intuitive process. Allowing chance and the subconscious to guide her creativity, she chooses not to work with a preconceived idea and lets improvisation guide the process. Her career decision to enter the medical field as a clinical microbiologist in 1988 would become a dominant inspiration that greatly influences her art. The shapes pulsate and swarm across the paper, often resembling images found under a microscope. The artist works primarily with watercolor, using its fluidity to create spontaneous and unexpected results. She allows the improvised results of the initial painting process to guide the development of the final image. By leaving room for interpretation, her work encourages viewers to draw upon their own experiences and perceptions, creating a unique and personal connection with the art."
