  • Echoes of Kancamagus

    Echoes of Kancamagus

Wood Relief Sculpture by Ron Vellucci (14.75in. x 11.25in.)
“Echoes of the Kancamagus” is a visual archive of a hike through the rugged wilderness of the legendary Kancamagus Pass in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. The title of the piece pays honor to Chief Kancamagus, "The Fearless One," who was the third and final Sagamore of the Penacook Confederacy in the late 1600’s. The sculpture is constructed from various woods—including spalted sycamore, white pine, mahogany, red oak, zebrawood, and walnut—with details of brass inlay. Layered upon this foundation are organic artifacts gathered directly from the woodland trail: white birch bark, weathered black river rock, and 3 spalted slices of a maple branch, symbolizing the three generations of Sagamore leadership. Together, these elements bridge the tribal history and the enduring spirit of the White Mountains.

  • Aeropittura

    Aeropittura

Wood Sculpture by Ron Vellucci (17in. x 6in.)
"Inspired by a lifelong fascination with flight and viewing the topographic tapestries below from an aerial perspective, my Aeropittura series of sculpture translates these patterns into sophisticated, abstract compositions of shapes, patterns, organic colors, and texture.
Aeropittura utilizes a rich palette of contrasting woods… dark ebony, warm mahogany, rosewood, and bird's-eye maple—to create a topographic relief as viewed from above. The intersecting lines and shapes are enhanced with precise inlay and overlay details of copper and brass, to suggest shadows, architecture, and the presence of mankind’s imprint on the surface of our planet."
