"The Accidental Elephant emerged through an experimental mixed media process. It was not my intention to create an elephant: the image revealed itself as I studied the unpredictable marks, textures, and movement within the piece. My role became one of recognition and restraint, choosing what to preserve without making the image too literal. I created the custom, hand finished frame as an extension of the artwork, allowing its weathered surface to echo the image within. "Necklace is Viking Knit Chain and wire-sculpted pendant. Each inch of chain has over 1 foot of round wire. Technique was used by Norse craftspeople in the 8-11 century. Pendant is sculpted on a V of argentium sterling silver-.940 and 14K gold-filled square wire with half-round wire holding them together. There is no soldering. Three of the gems, dark blue obsidian-a faceted cut stone and a tanzanite cabochon, and the turquoise trunk are individually wrapped in gold-filled wire, with the rest of the gems in bead form sculpting the branches of the tree. The beads gems are: malachite, peridot, moonstone, garnet, agate, amazonite, opal, rose quartz, lepidolite, jade, serpentine, citrine, aquamarine, labradorite, kunzite, rhodochrosite, ruby, pink tourmaline, amethyst, angelic, blue lace agate, black onyx, tiger eye, larimar, emerald, dalmatian jasper, clear quartz, lapis, baroque pearl, and apatite, Several of the wires were hand twisted, others were purchased as twisted wires."Artwork purchased online can be picked up AFTER the exhibit ends, on or after September 27, 2026 -- or shipped to the buyer (ALL SHIPPING COSTS TO BE PAID BY THE BUYER).
