  • The Tradition Continues

    The Tradition Continues

Original Cyanotype from Original Image by Kathleen Thompson (16in. x 19in.)
"Keepers of the Tradition For centuries, artists have been drawn to the light, architecture, and enduring spirit of St. Augustine. This cyanotype honors that legacy by capturing two painters immersed in the creative act, linking today's artists with those who have found inspiration here across generations. The historic blue tones of the cyanotype process echo the passage of time, transforming a contemporary moment into one that feels timeless. My hope is to celebrate not only the beauty of the city's artistic heritage, but also the quiet dedication of those who continue to preserve and interpret it through their own work. This is a cyanotype created from my own images."

  • Casa Monica Reflections

    Casa Monica Reflections

Watercolor Mixed Media by Kathleen Thompson (22in. x 26in.)
"Casa Monica Reflections captures the familiar crossing between modern life and the timeless character of St. Augustine. Rather than documenting a specific moment, I sought to convey the feeling of arriving as an afternoon shower transforms the the roadway, and the city's historic skyline into a tapestry of reflected color. Through expressive watercolor and layered transparent washes, I invite the viewer to experience a place where history and the present coexist in quiet harmony. The reflections and luminous color are intended to evoke he feeling of standing after the rain where history is experience through changing light and weather. As a Florida artist, I am continually inspired by the unique character of St. Augustine. My work explores the beauty of familiar places, inviting viewers to pause, remember, and discover something new within landscapes they may have passed countless times. I hope this painting encourages viewers to experience St Augustine not simply as a destination, but as a moment of light, history and quiet wonder."

    Ponce de León

Polymer Clay, Acrylic Paint, Golf Leaf, Resin, Gold Filled Chain by Christy Whittle (1in. x 1in.)
"Each piece is meticulously hand-sculpted with polymer clay from scratch and then hand-painted and sealed with resin. The pendant is then set on a 14k gold filled chain. This miniature painting is my tribute to one of the city's most beloved landmarks. Working on such a small scale invites me to slow down and notice the details that give a place its character: the warm terracotta roofs, the soaring towers, the Florida light against a clear blue sky."
