  • Feel the Dink

    Feel the Dink

Acrylic and Found Objects on Cradled Birch Panel by Matthew Scott Barker (36in. x 24in. x 10in.)
"Feel the Dink Acrylic and found objects (pickleball paddles, pickleballs, wire mesh) on cradled birch panel, 36 × 24 in. In pickleball, the dink is the game's quietest shot: a soft touch that drops just over the net. It wins through control rather than power. Feel the Dink turns that moment into something you can hold. An acrylic court sets the stage, and a wire-mesh "iron curtain" stands in for the net. Two halved pickleballs are frozen mid-rally, just struck by a bright red paddle. A second red paddle hangs from a swivel hook, and a ball dangles on a string, waiting for you. Trace the holes in the balls, run your fingers along the net, and take a swing. This piece isn't only meant to be seen. It's meant to be played. — Matthew Scott Barker"

  • Just Hanging Out

    Just Hanging Out

Grapevine, Reed, Coco coir, and Philidendrin Leaf Sheaths by Valarie Pothier-Forrester (16in. x 21in. x 11in.)
"This project represents a sort of "back to my roots" mentality. Weaving baskets is something I did for many years but put away for other artistic pursuits. However, with this piece, i found a great deal of satisfaction in pulling the vines from the trees and rooting around in the philodendron plants to gather the sheaths. These materials were like old friends to me. I spent a lot of time dyeing the reeds to my color satisfaction and sourcing the coir, then weaving the unusual materials to create a unified design. And just so you know, I spent time carefully curating the vice to assure they would be free of anything prickly."

  • Myth

    Myth

Mixed Media by Bobbie Morgan (17in. x 35in.)
"Starting with a large piece of wood, I first drew the mermaid, then hand cut the design. I used textured paste to build up the hair and fins, creating shadows and highlights. I then painted the sculpture with acrylic paint and sealed with multiple layers of epoxy for a shiny and smooth feel."

Sterling Silver, Moonstones, and Laminated Woods on Canvas Board by Deborah Lightfield (9in. x 9in.)
"This Silver, Moonstone and Laminated Wood Piece is jewelry for the wall. I created a miniature landscape with various laminated wood pieces, then added the silver clouds and moonstone raindrops. The clouds are chased and the moonstones are bezel set. The backdrop for the jeweled landscapes is Ocean Wash and Acrylic on Watercolor paper."

  • Multilayered Day at the Beach

    Multilayered Day at the Beach

Acrylic, Plaster, and Mixed Media on Canvas by Deborah Lightfield (28in. x11in. x 7in.)
"Initially I created the seashell sculpture with the two shells naturally nestled into each other with textured shapes casting beautiful shadows. Next, I created a colorful backdrop and cascading setting for the seashell sculpture to live in. The plaster fabric formed the wind and waves in a dreamlike way so we can touch and experience them. To add to the multilayered beach experience, I added a fish and Capiz Shells underneath the ombre blue draped waves so we can hear the wind and waves. A fun way to enjoy the day at the beach without leaving the house."

  • "...be the one to find the gold"

“…be the one to find the gold”

Acrylic and Plaster on Canvas by Deborah Lightfield (21in. x25in.)
"Using texture and one color allows the texture, contours and shadows to become the main feature, focus and experience. Not sure why I decided to paint it gold, but in the end the gold gave it true meaning. The plaster fabric piece in the center “pouring out” of the format and the frame gives it additional dimension. Once I found the proverb, it seemed perfect to add the two “gold” nuggets. Additionally, the “gold nuggets” of the scripture were metaphorical. Hope you find gold in your life."

  • Follow the Water

    Follow the Water

Acrylic, Gesso, Ribbons on Canvas by Scarlett Stephenson (24in. x24in. x 3in.)
"In Waterfall, I used cool, smooth ribbons to represent the flowing water and rough gesso to create the texture of rocks and the landscape around it. I wanted the different textures to make the waterfall feel more realistic and show the contrast between soft, moving water and the rough surfaces it flows over.In Waterfall, I used cool, smooth ribbons to represent the flowing water and rough gesso to create the texture of rocks and the landscape around it.
