  "This project represents a sort of "back to my roots" mentality. Weaving baskets is something I did for many years but put away for other artistic pursuits. However, with this piece, i found a great deal of satisfaction in pulling the vines from the trees and rooting around in the philodendron plants to gather the sheaths. These materials were like old friends to me. I spent a lot of time dyeing the reeds to my color satisfaction and sourcing the coir, then weaving the unusual materials to create a unified design. And just so you know, I spent time carefully curating the vice to assure they would be free of anything prickly."
