Eleven to three, Birds

$1,800.00

Oil on Linen by Timothy Wood
(38in. x 26in.)

“I’m just another observer, but here’s some thinking behind this painting. I’m obsessed with clouds. Florida skies are a constant source of entertainment and often a study in perspective. Clouds are water vapor but sometimes appear to be mountains. I’ve always liked my sketchbooks where I create, unedited, and the pages appear to be collections of random images/ideas but they become whole compositions. I leave meaning up to the viewer. I like birds, I like trees and nature, I have been studying traditional landscape painting for a while. So it’s quirky, influenced, mysterious, ridiculous and all that but hopefully the composition offers a compelling tension. Yes, the “graves” align with the figures–always contemplating that mortality–one step away from the other side. Also it plays on the perception of order or control; clear man-made lines vs. nature (awesome yet messy). The title comes from the gameboard-like presentation. There are eleven birds and three figures. The Birds are winning, eleven to three.“
