“In the Making explores creation as an ongoing process rather than a finished state. The female form becomes both creation and creator, embodying the impulse to make, grow, and transform.
The hard ceramic clay surface is rough, fractured, and layered, recalling cliffs, rocks, erosion, and the shifting surfaces of the earth. Against it, wool, fiber, lace, and thread introduce softness, warmth, and movement. These contrasting materials suggest the tension between permanence and change, strength and vulnerability, structure and growth.
Like a landscape shaped over time, the figure carries evidence of her own making. She is at once ancient and emerging, accumulating and eroding. She is, like all acts of changing, perpetually in the making.“
