“I combine my love of paint and paper as I create collage papers. The medium could be watercolor, acrylic or even coffee to dye or print on paper and fabric. Some papers have additional layers of marks made with graphite, ink or even rust. Bookpages are a favorite background layer, and I spend quite a bit of time searching for interesting subjects that may be heading to the trash pile. The petals and stems could be cut edges or a ripped rough edge. Both of these add texture to the piece. Tissue paper layers add depth and interest as they show the paper detail beneath.”
