  • Breakfast with Lemon-Yellow Goldfinch

    Breakfast with Lemon-Yellow Goldfinch

    Oil by Svetlana Shorey
    (31in. by 38in.)
"There is a bird in this still life. Can you see it? I’ve painted this vibrant still life, looking at the freshly picked hydrangeas and sunflowers that were growing in our garden. I intentionally placed the goldfinch next to a semi-circle of a young hydrangea cluster to trick your eye so the bird would look like a flower at first glance. Goldfinches are attracted to yellow-blossoming sunflowers and disguise themselves like them. Plants and animals always been my passion. I can spend hours meditating on the colors and the shape variations of each species. They bring a sense of amazement and entertainment for me. This painting is an invitation to bring your mind to stillness, to pause, and to find a simple pleasure in the moment, as I attained while painting it."

  • Eyes on Breakfast

    Eyes on Breakfast

Oil paint by Glenn Ivie (18in. by 24in.)
"This piece captures the great blue heron in a moment of coiled anticipation at the water’s edge. I’m drawn to herons because they embody such compelling contradictions—creatures of undeniable grace with elegant necks and beautiful flight, yet ruthless hunters with snake-like striking abilities. Even their voice betrays them: that ungraceful, bullfrog croak erupting from such a refined form. I’ve focused on that S-curve of the neck, the weapon held in reserve, and the stillness before the strike. The warm earth tones against cool blues emphasize both the bird’s beauty and its role as ambush predator—nature refusing our neat categories."

  • The Fluidity of the Emergent Pulse

The Fluidity of the Emergent Pulse

Oil by Luther Steven Walker (50in. by 25in.)
"This painting grew out of a period of tension, a quiet wrestling between fragmentation and wholeness. The interlocking form suggest collision at first, but as they settle into one another and structure begins stream emerge with Phil’s chaotic reveals its own internal logic my work explores what happens beneath the surface the energy we carry the stories we don’t fully articulate the movement between resistance and acceptance. Abstraction allows me to express that without fixing it into a single narrative. I’m drawn to the idea that harmony isn’t the absence of conflict, but something discovered inside it. This piece reflects that search not for perfection but for integration."
