  In the land of the Timucua

  "Long before Europeans came to this land, the Timucua people lived in what is now Florida and Georgia. This was painted along the shore of the Tomoka River near where a group of Timucua Indians lived 1500 years ago. While there are stories in this area about a mythical chief, that these ancient people lived here is very real. Their spirits may inspire the artists to paint their land."
