The piece is set in the hillsides of Calypso, the fictitious city where much of my previous work is centered. I wanted to romanticize the hunting techniques of the Egret, a behavior I have witnessed and marveled at for years. In this composition, the agave mimics the shape of the bird’s neck, while the moon’s luminous rays heighten the vibrancy of the palms and caladiums within the agave fields.”
