Great Summer Away

Polymer clay, acrylics, wood by Shelby Clark-Glass
(14in. x 5in.)

This sculpture highlights the humpback whale’s migratory path, which often brings it near Florida’s coastlines during winter. The inclusion of human clothing items, such as a scarf and packed shirts, represents the idea of migration as a shared experience across species. By pairing these elements, the work draws parallels between human and animal journeys, underscoring Florida’s role as a waypoint for many travelers.
