St. Augustine Art Association
The St. Augustine Art Association has been promoting excellence in the arts since 1924. Located in the Historic District of the nation's oldest city, the Association produces monthly juried exhibits of works by emerging and professional artists as well as the annual Thanksgiving Art & Craft Festival. The art gallery serves as the community's cultural hub, housing a collection of "Lost Colony" art and providing a gathering place for workshops, lectures, children's programs, concerts and special events.

In celebration of our 90th Anniversary, we're proud to unveil plans for the new TOUCH St. Augustine Art Garden!

This re-imagined Art Center entry invites visitors to explore art and history through all of the senses. Features include improved ADA ramps, water fountains, new "floating" sculptures, native plantings and interpretive Braille markers.

Thanks to the Bradley/Mayer family, your donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000. Please help us reach our goal in 90 days! Donors will be honored on the Donor Wall and via other naming opportunities.

Registration is underway for the St. Augustine Art Association's "After School Art Studio" that meets six Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m., September 24 through October 29.

For elementary and middle school-age children, the program will focus on creating drawing, painting and collage projects inspired by the colorful paintings of Henri Matisse. Taught by award-winning portrait artist Laura Kubart, a certified art teacher, the fun and messy hands-on activities also explore art history, art principles and vocabulary.

Cost for the six-week program is $125 and includes supplies. The St. Augustine Art Association is located at 22 Marine Street in St. Augustine's Historic District. For more information and to enroll, call (904) 824-2310.

Workshop: De-objectifying the Subject with Jim Draper - Nov 8 & 9, 9am to 4pm

Whether landscape, portraiture or still life, this approach focuses on painting "with" something as opposed to simply representing it. Participants shift toward personally engaging with the subject, which helps inform their application of paint, materials and technique. Space is limited.

The exhibition includes sculptures, assemblages, pottery, fiber art, reliefs, wall hangings and mixed media with Braille labels and selected audio guides. A TOUCH St. Augustine and Art Beyond Sight initiative. Produced in partnership with Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. Limit three entries.
